Yolande Fortin

Age 81 of Morris, formerly Greenville, New Hampshire, passed away Saturday March 14, 2015 in her home.

Born June 16, 1933 in Quebec, Canada, Yolande was a daughter of Elphege and Yvonne Pellerin-Bergeron.  She began her schooling in Canada, but finished grade school in Greenville, New Hampshire where her family relocated.  On June 30, 1956 Yolande married Jules H. Fortin in Greenville, New Hampshire.  She was employed in New Ipswich, New Hampshire at Warwick Mills textile plant as a weaver, until relocating with Jules and her family  to Morris in 1975.  Yolande was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post #294. In her free time, she enjoyed doing puzzles, attending her grandchildren’s numerous activities. Yolande was also proud to have researched her family’s genealogy back to the early 1600’s.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years Jules; three children: Diane Zelinko of Coal City, Michael (Janet) Fortin of Kane, Illinois and Paul (Cheryl) Fortin of Morris; three grandchildren: Timothy Zelinko of Coal City and Joshua and Daniel Fortin, both of Morris; four brothers: Marcel, Robert and Jacques Bergeron, all of New Hampshire, and Jean Guy Bergeron of Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would also like to acknowledge the assistance of Yolande’s caretakers, Kathy and Michelle, whose service was most appreciated.

Yolande was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Hortense, Gertrude, Fernand, Roger, Normand, Jude and Jean Paul.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 17, 2015 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Route 47), in Morris.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris.  Reverend Ed Howe, CR will officiate and  burial will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Yolande’s memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
