Born April 30, 1923 in Morris, Winona was a daughter of the late Clyde Isham and Emma (nee Sistek) Davies. She was raised in Mazon and graduated valedictorian of Mazon Township High School. On February 14, 1944, Winona married Leonard John Bols in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris. Together with Leonard, Winona worked on the family farm, both with the dairy and in the farming operations. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Minooka, where she was involved with the St. Mary's Quilters, the funeral luncheon committee and the CCW, who honored her as a past Woman of the Year. She was a member of the Grundy County Historical Society, Grundy County Farm Bureau, the Audubon Society and taught 4-H in years past. She was a long time election judge for Aux Sable Township and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, bird watching and golf. She bowled on Monday Night League for many years, and though remembered for her true love of church and friends; Winona took most pleasure in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
