"Will"
Age 76 of Elwood and formerly Frankfort, passed away Friday morning August 26, 2011 at his home.
Born November 29, 1934 in Chicago, Willis was a son of the late Maurice E. and Erlamond E. Fenton-Way. He was raised in Chicago and was a graduate of Fenger High School with the Class of 1952. Willis was a Veteran of the United States Army and honorably served throughout the European Theater of Operations. He married Sylvia J. Bachert and she preceded him in death in 2005.Willis retired from John Hancock, where he was employed as a CLU, CHFC Marketing Representative. He will be remembered for his love of golf and bowling.
Survivors include two children: Michael (Lori) Way of Palatine and Lorraine (Michael) Jernigan of Phoenix; two biological grandchildren: Meghann Allred and Larissa Glover; one sister Edna Braschler of Park Forest; two sisters-in-law: Cheryl (Bill) Brown of Antioch and Rose Dunahoo of Park Forest; one niece Linda (Brian) Doran of Maryland and one nephew Bob (Kathy) Braschler of Park Forest.
Willis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sylvia, one son Matthew and his brother-in-law Richard Bachert.
Family and Friends may gather together on Tuesday August 30th at 9:00AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington, where a procession will depart at 9:30AM. Interment with full military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 10:00AM. Deacon Don Berkey will officiate the committal services.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Willis' memory to the Elwood Children's Garden, 500 North Chicago Street, Elwood, Illinois 60421.
