William E. Spangler
Age 88 of Manteno, passed away Sunday August 31, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born April 06, 1920 in Manhattan, Illinois, William was a son of the late Henry and Lillian Case-Spangler. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged on May 26, 1943.
William was employed by the City of Harvey, where he worked as a supervisor in the water and sewer department until his retirement.
Survivors include his daughter Shelley Sokol of Alsip; one granddaughter Jennifer (Daniel) Volek of Frankfort and one step-sister Mary (Ken) Dolle of Wisconsin.
William was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth; one son James William; four brothers: Samuel, Joseph, Vernon and Robert and one step-brother Amos "Buddy" Spooner.
Graveside services will be held on Friday September 05, 2008 at 12:30PM in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Friends and family who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery Welcome Center by 12:15PM.
