William E. McLin

Age 69 of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday evening April 15, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born March 26, 1945 in Beardstown, Illinois, William was a son of the late Robert and Eula Mae Harris-McLin. He was raised in Arenzville, Illinois and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. Bill retired from ExxonMobil after 32 years of service; was a member of the Joliet ExxonMobil Retiree’s Club, Stone City VFW Post 2199, The National Rifleman’s Association and Ducks Unlimited. Bill was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing and farming. He took pleasure in traveling, bicycling and boating, and will be remembered for his love of spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn, whom he married on April 15, 1983; two sons: Travis (Jane) McLin of Bourbonnais and Lance (Mindy) McLin of Wilmington; daughter-in-law Megan Noe of Joliet; nine grandchildren: Cecily (Kris) Day, Nickholas McLin, Tyler Rock, Katelyn McLin, Trevur McLin, Logan McLin, Tyler Noe, Audrey Noe and Erik Noe; one great grandson Liam Wayne Day; one brother Robert H. (Carol) McLin of Jacksonville, Illinois; one sister Betsy (Robert) Winkelmann of Petersburg, Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gary (Juanita) Noe of Beardstown, Phyllis (Tracy) Neese of Texas, Peggy (Arthur) Sim of Georgia, Frank Lyons of Pontiac, and Harold Edlen of Beardstown; one cousin Gerald (Rose) McLin of South Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful and beloved dogs Colter, Studley and Dash.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; son Greg Noe on May 3, 2012; aunts and uncles: Norman and Ruth Huston and Wayne and Henrietta McLin; cousin Dale Huston and brother and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Lyons, Merle Noe and Betty Edlen.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday April 22, 2014 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Wednesday morning April 23 rd at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Inurnment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
