Age 83 of Carbon Hill and formerly Chicago and Glen Ellyn, passed away Friday evening April 8, 2011 at his home.

Born May 12, 1927 in Chicago, Bill was a son of the late Merlin F. and Mary D. Waddell-Leinweber. He was raised and educated in Chicago and was a graduate of James H. Bowen High School with the Class of 1945. Bill then later attended the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II throughout the European Theater of Operations. On December 12, 1948, Bill married Nancy Mattull in Chicago, and she survives. Bill was employed with BP Oil for 27 years, and then went on to work at Soukop Hardware in Hinsdale until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chicago, where he was involved with the Men's Brotherhood, was active with the Boys Scouts of America and also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill can be remembered for his love of building sailing ship models and could often be found maintaining and working on Cu-Cu Clocks. In his free time he also enjoyed camping, nature, birds and the outdoors, and was known for following high school football.

Survivors include his wife of 62 Years: Nancy; three children: Kurt (Barbara) Leinweber of Braidwood, Keith (Donna) Leinweber of Genoa and Lee Leinweber of Carbon Hill; seven grandchildren: Sara Leinweber, Katie Leinweber, William T. Leinweber, Mary Grace Leinweber, Brehan Holoka, Chaz Kuhn and Jason Leinweber and one great grandson William K. Leinweber.

Interment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 1:00PM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the Cemetery Welcome Center by 12:45PM.
