William P. Hurley
"Hurricane Bill"
Age 73 of Wesley Twp., Wilmington, passed away Sunday May 3, 2009 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born May 10, 1935 in Wilmington, Bill was a son of the late Buell B. and Marguerite M. "Rita" VanDuyne-Hurley. He was a veteran having served in the US Navy. Bill was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and Operating Engineers Local #150. In his free time Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto racing and anything mechanical.
Survivors include his loving wife Linda (nee Connor), whom he married on June 22, 1957 in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington; one son Jeff; two brothers-in-law: Kenny Nichols and Darwin Connor; one sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Bob Brannock and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; one brother Jim; one sister Mary Nichols; one sister-in-law Charlotte Connor, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Wednesday May 6, 2009 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM and Thursday May 7th from 9:00AM until 9:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington.
Funeral services will follow Thursday at 10:00AM in St. Rose Catholic Church in WIlmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bill's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage.
