William E. Gillis, Jr.

Age 70 of Wilmington, passed away Monday August 18, 2014 at Manor Care in Kankakee.

Born June 15, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia, William Earl was a son of the late William Earl, Sr. and Alma (Hartley) Gillis. A member of IBEW Local #176, Bill worked for Clennon Electric for 40 years, until his retirement. He was a former Wilmington volunteer fireman, and belonged to the Wilmington Moose Lodge. A musician his whole life, Bill was a drummer for the Gettinany's and will be remembered for the enjoyment of socializing with friends. Bill absolutely loved fishing, as well as anything electronic, and truly cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons: David (Bernadine) Gillis of Wilmington and James (Jami) Gillis of Braidwood; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and one brother Robert Gillis of Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will receive friends on Tuesday August 26, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service 6:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral celebrant Violette Baskerville, CPC will officiate.

A private inurnment will be in Savannah, Georgia.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bill's memory to his family for their distribution.
