William Francis Egan

Age 80 of Wilmington passed away unexpected Wednesday January 26, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born November 2, 1930 in Joliet, Bill was a son of the late William Francis and Lyola Fox-Egan. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean Conflict. On December 5, 1953, Bill married Diane Voigt in the Richards Street Methodist Church in Joliet and Diane survives. Bill was retired from Local 150, where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington; The Malcomb J. Mayo VFW Post 5422, where he devoted more than 40 years of service and the American Legion. Bill was a true family man, and greatly enjoyed the time spent with his family. He can also be remembered for his love of fishing, playing cards with his kids and spending time watching the wildlife from the back deck of his home.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Diane; two daughters: Deborah (Robert) VanDuyne and Colleen (Mike) Williams, both of Wilmington; three grandchildren: Beth (Jimmy) Norman, Neta VanDuyne and Michael Williams and one great grandson Mitchell Norman, all of Wilmington; two sisters: Agnes Suca of Joliet and Lorraine (Robert) Popovich of Wilmington; one brother-in-law Harry (Bonnie) Voigt of Utah and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents: William Francis Egan and Lyola (Martin) Hill; two sisters: Mary Sandell and Marilyn Grosslaus and one brother Richard Hill.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Saturday January 29th from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:30AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet and pallbearers will be: Jimmy Norman, Mitchell Norman, Michael Williams, Dan Popovich, Billy Popovich, Johnny Blasdell and Michael Grohar.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Bill's memory to the First United Methodist Church, 401 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
