William J. Black
"Bill"
Age 76 of Reddick and formally of Wilmington passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 13, 1933 in Springfield he was a son of the late Frank and Opal Bennett-Black. Bill was a graduate of Wilmington High School with the class of 1951. He was a member of the Braidwood Recreation Club, an avid golfer, reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, drawing and organizing his work area. Bill was employed by Caterpillar Company and retired after 35 years in management.
Survivors include his wife: Geraldine (nee Latimer); five children: Kim Swanson of Romeoville, Pete "Butch" (Kathy) Kommer of Joliet, Kathy (Andy) Adams of Plainfield, Mike (Simone) Kommer of Clinton, IA, Julie (Terry) McAdams of Gardner; eight grandchildren: Corlin, Caylin, Colin, Sarah, Marcus, Erik, Valerie and Patrick; one sister-in-law: Mary Black of Wilmington; one uncle: Paul Bennett of Thawville, IL; two cousins: Roger and Sharon Bennett; two nephews: Owen Black and Phillip Cryder and one niece: Shelly Black.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Randy and one daughter Kelly.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will receive friends on Thursday January 21, 2010 from 12:00pm until time of memorial service 2:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street in Wilmington with Reverend Lloyd Kemble and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Bill's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice or OSF Hospice of Pontiac.
