Wayne Thomas Hextell

Age 76 of Newark, passed away December 1, 2010 in the Morris Hospital. A longtime smoker, Wayne died of emphysema.

Wayne was born October 28, 1934 in Sandwich, Illinois, baptized at Helmar Lutheran Church and was the son of Alvin and Vera Graff-Hextell of Newark.

Wayne attended the Newark schools and is a 1952 Newark High School graduate. Wayne joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation and served two years before moving to Glendale, California to pursue his career as a diesel truck mechanic. In 2006, Wayne moved back to his home town of Newark, Illinois. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, accomplished trap shooter, and just like his dad, won many awards and prizes in competitions. Wayne also loved dogs and had an expert knowledge of them.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, uncles: Howard (Ruth) Hextell and Arnold Graff; aunts: Charlotte (Forrest) Christian, Evelyn (Richard) Lefebure, Arlene (Dale) Michelson and Myra Arentsen.

A private family memorial service will be held at the Helmar Lutheran Cemetery.
