Age 83 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday September 25, 2007 at Morris Hospital.

Born January 14, 1924 in Minooka, Waunetta was a daughter of the late Clifford and Clara (Weber) Longanecker. She was raised and educated in Joliet and attended Joliet Township High School. On October 20, 1951 Waunetta married Howard Smith and together they lived in Coal City their entire married life.

Survivors include three children: Wendy L. Smith of Coal City, Tamie (Curt) McMahan of Wilmington and Pamie (Phillip "Leo") Middleton of Coal City. Four grandchildren: Tina Middleton of Coal City and Jennifer McMahan, Amanda (Jamie) Thompson and Robin McMahan, all of Wilmington. Three great grandchildren: Kaytee McMahan, Hunter Thompson and Christopher Thompson. One sister Betty Holt of New Jersey and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Waunetta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard (1986) and two nephews: Danny Kirchner and Eugene Smith.

Visitation will be held on Thursday September 27, 2007 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Friday September 28th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Dr. Thomas Logsdon from the Coal City United Methodist Church officiating and burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Craig Smith, Harry Nelson, Paul Middleton, Jeff Middleton, Bill Hart and Wilbur Olroyd.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Waunetta's memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choice.
