Age 62 and a lifelong resident of Coal City, passed away Wednesday June 13, 2012 at Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.

Born May 30, 1950 in Morris, Walter was a son of the late Joseph and Wilma Carnegie-Martin. He was raised and educated in Coal City, attending the Catholic Grade School through the 8th Grade and graduating from Coal City High School with the Class of 1969. Wally worked at Jim Smith car dealership during his high school years and was later employed with A.P. Green Refinery. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, where he served as an altar boy in his youth. Wally will forever be remembered for his great enjoyment of spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his brother: William (fiancAC. - Lynn Olson) Martin of Diamond; sister: Susan (Larry) Tarman of Morris; nieces and nephews: Matthew (Stephanie) Tarman, AimAC.e (Dan) Meister, Luke Tarman, Kailee Martin, Jarrod Olson and Taylor Olson; six great nephews, and his cousin: Cyndy Sampson.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; infant nephew Joshua Martin, several aunts and uncles and one cousin.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Saturday June 16, 2012 from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will then follow at 11:30AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jarrod Olson, Taylor Olson, Scott Pavlis, Leo Reeves, Greg Hill, Terry Sisk and Chris Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Matthew Tarman, AimAC.e Meister, Luke Tarman and Kailee Martin.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Wally's memory to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street, Coal City, Illinois 60416.
