Age 69 of Goose Lake, passed away Tuesday May 12, 2009 at Ballard Health Care Center in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Born September 29, 1939 in Chicago Wally was a son of the late Walter Edward, Sr. and Ruth Schmidt-Liebenow. On April 21, 1979 Wally married Sharon McCulloch-Herzberg and together they lived in Michigan prior to moving to Goose Lake in 1986. Wally belonged to the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #265, from where he retired from in 2001, and he was a member of the Morris Moose Lodge #967. Wally enjoyed fishing in Minnesota, the outdoors, gardening, canning and cooking. He was also very artistic and loved woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years Sharon; three children: Deborah (James) Hall of Batavia, Michael Liebenow of Naperville and Susan Liebenow of Aurora; one step daughter Cheri Garrett of Meherrin, Virginia; six grandchildren: Michael Liebenow, II, Sarah Liebenow-Cleary, Nichole Hall, Christopher Hall, Emily Liebenow and Mikayla Garrett; one great granddaughter Madison Lynn Cleary, who is due June 1, 2009; one brother Larry (Ginger) Liebenow of Warrenville; one sister Jill (Louis "Corky") Boers of West Chicago; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Roy (Cheryl) McCulloch, Bonnie (Art) Cuthburtson, David Koeppendoefer and Susan McCulloch, all of Michigan and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents; one son Walter James Liebenow; one stepson Michael Herzberg; one brother-in-law Bill McCulloch; one sister-in-law Kathy Koeppendoefer and his best friend Gary Fick.

The family will receive friends on Sunday May 17, 2009 from 11:30AM until time of services 1:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Pastor Tom Logsdon from the Coal City United Methodist Church will officiate.
