Vincent J. Eddy, of Cape Coral, Florida (formerly of Morris, Illinois), crossed over on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Health Park Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Born in Morris, Illinois on September 2, 1945, he was the son of Victor and Mary (Lindsay) Eddy. He was educated in Morris grade schools and graduated from Morris Community High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1965 and went to Vietnam in May 1966. He served his country proudly until 1969. He was a hard worker his entire life, starting as a paperboy as a child and off-loading mail cars when he was a teenager. He went on to be an apprentice butcher and worked his way up to be one of the fastest journeyman butchers. He was also a photographer for a few years and took beautiful photographs, a talent that continued as a hobby for the rest of his life. He went on to work for Northern Petrochemical. He was an electrical instrument technician at Equistar Chemicals until his retirement in 2006. After Equistar, he worked for Aux Sable Liquid Products as a pipeline meter specialist until his final retirement in 2008.
He met the love of his life, Carole, in 1960 and the two were married on September 4, 1968. They had three children together, living most of their lives in Morris, Illinois. They were snowbirds in Lake Placid, Florida for a few years before officially moving to Cape Coral, Florida in July 2019. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 294 in Morris and was a Freemason.
Vince leaves behind his loving daughters, Courtney (James) Nixon of Ottawa, Illinois, and Candyce (Robby) Connor of Cape Coral, Florida; grandchildren Chance and Paisley Nixon of Ottawa, Illinois and Gage and Mason Connor of Cape Coral, Florida. Also surviving include his dear cousin, Judy Hammons, his sister-in-law Patricia Eddy, brothers-in-law Michael (Terry) McIntyre, Bruce (Margo) McIntyre, Richard (Anne) McIntyre, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carole Eddy, his son, Christopher Eddy, his parents, his brother, Charles Eddy, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, Illinois, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Morris Color Guard.
