Vicky Lynn Palacios

Age 54 of Coal City and formerly Joliet, passed away unexpectedly Monday July 21, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born September 2, 1959 in Hammond, Indiana, Vicky is a daughter of Dorothy June (nee Sikkink) Johnke of Wilmington and the late Kenneth Darryl Johnke. She was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet East High School. She married John Palacios on November 28, 1981 in Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet, and he preceded her in 1986. Vicky was currently employed with Rovanco Piping Systems in Joliet. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and vacationing, and took pleasure being on the beach with a pineapple paradise. Vicky's family was most important to her, and she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her mother Dorothy Johnke of Wilmington; four children: Joshua Johnke (Sara Hakey) of Coal City, Nicole Palacios (Brian Malcik) of Millington, Robert Sanchez of Coal City, and Angel Barnard (Ronald) of Coal City; one step-daughter Isidra Martinez (Jimmy) of Joliet; ten grandchildren: Kenneth, William, Madison, Ryan, John, Alicia, Victoria, Frankie, Isabella and Landon; sisters: Nancy Griparis (Greg) of Shorewood, Gloria Lukas (the late Victor) of Wilmington and Phyllis Webb (the late Bob) of Morris; brothers: Bobby Johnke (Nancy Weber) of Shorewood and David Johnke (Kay) of Joliet, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from South Dakota, as well as nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her father Kenneth; husband John Palacios; two step-sons: John Palacios and Chris Palacios and one brother Billy Johnke.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Road in Joliet. Pastor David Nygard will officiate, and inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet. Vicky will be laid to rest with her late husband John.
