Survived by two sons: Terrence (Jane) Keeley and Brian (Susan) Keeley; daughter in law Agnes Keeley; grandchildren: Maureen (Bob) Mack, Kent (Lisa) Keeley, Jr., Coleen (Andy) Walsh, Joseph Keeley, Matthew (Casey) Keeley, Alexis Keeley and Christopher Keeley; great grandchildren: Ryan Foster, Johnathan Mack, Jessica Mack, Katelyn Mack, Rebecca Keeley, Brandon Keeley, Drew Walsh, Keeley Walsh, Wyatt Keeley and Garrett Keeley; great-great grandson Logan Vance and two sisters: Geraldine Woolwine and Kathryn Chambers, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Verna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Keeley; parents, Albert and Margaret Schutten; brother, Albert Schutten; son, Kent Keeley and great granddaughter Alyssa Keeley.
Born Veronica Marie Schutten in Wilmington, IL on May 19, 1915. She was president of her senior class and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1932. Verna Mae was a lifelong member of St. Rose Church in Wilmington, where she was a member of the Adult Choir, Council of Catholic Women and one of the first Eucharistic ministers to serve at St. Rose. She was famous for her homemade pies and carrying on the family tradition of making G Shaft candy.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 between the hours of 3:00PM and 7:00PM and Wednesday, March 11th from 9:00AM until 9:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Rose Church on Wednesday at 10:00AM, with interment following in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
