Tonya J. Kahler
Age 50 of Metamora, Illinois and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Friday evening, April 28, 2017 at her home.
Born February 27, 1967 in Effingham, Illinois, Tonya Jean is a daughter of Robert “Bob” and Renee’ (Reibert) Peavler of Diamond. She was raised in Wilmington, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1985. Tonya worked with her father at his State Farm Insurance Agency in Wilmington for many years, and later went on to attend Joliet Junior College, where she earned her degree in Culinary Arts. Most recently Tonya worked at JJC as a Culinary Lab Assistant before relocating to Metamora. Tonya was a member of the Wilmington Moose Lodge #241 and the American Culinary Federation (ACF). She had a passion for food, took great pleasure in baking, and enjoyed running, playing golf and photography. Tonya loved her cat, as well as traveling.
Survivors include her parents; husband Mark, whom she married September 20, 2004; one son Josh Biggers of Coal City; brother and sister-in-law: Rob and Renee Peavler of Manhattan; aunts and uncles: Paula and Randy Price of Wilmington and Jennifer and Neal Nelson of Coal City; her mother and father-in-law: Sandy and Rich Hembrough of Wilmington; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Leslie Hembrough (Joe Morris) of Channahon, and Debbie (Tom) Hartman, Raquel Hembrough (Jim Ganz) and Heidi Hembrough (Jeff Lundberg), all of Wilmington; nieces and nephews: Rachel Peavler, Hannah Basinger, Adam Hartman and Kyle Morris, and numerous cousins and friends, including her lifelong friend Wendy Hunter of Frankfort.
Tonya was preceded in death by her grandparents, and one uncle Gary Peavler.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 7:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Green flameless cremation rites will be accorded following the services, and a private inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Tonya’s memory to the Illinois CancerCare Foundation , 8940 North Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615.
