Age 83 of Hazel Crest, Illinois, formerly of Wilmington, Illinois, died Monday, January 13, 2025 at Charter Senior Living in Hazel Crest.
Born August 26, 1941 in Joliet, Illinois, Thomas Henry was the son of Harold and Martha (Rowe) Murray. He was raised and educated in Lockport and graduated from Lockport Township High School with the Class of 1959. Tom then attended Joliet Junior College before enlisting in the United States Army, serving honorably from 1963 to 1965. On June 12, 1976, he married Angela P. Jangula in Channahon, Illinois and together they made their home in Wilmington.
Tom worked for the Exxon Mobil Joliet Refinery as an operator for 23 years until he formally retired. He attended Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and will be remembered for his mechanical inclinations. If something was broken or not quite working just right, he had the natural talent and determination to fix it. Tom was very content to retire and spend time on his mini farm and work out in his garage. Above all else, he was a husband, father, and grandfather, who provided for them the best he could and set a great example for those who were dearest to him.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Murray of Hazel Crest; four children: Matthew Murray of Conway, Arkansas, Kathryn Murray (Charlie Corrigan) of LaGrange Park, Illinois, Daniel (Candice) Murray of Hensley, Arkansas, and David (Jennifer) Murray of Braidwood, Illinois; as well as nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and two sisters: Kay (the late Jerry) Stonitsch of Florida and Jane (Don) Carter of Osage Beach, Missouri.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
