Theodore William Stallard
"Thumper"
Age 68 of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday July 10, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born December 12, 1944 in Olney, Illinois, Theodore was a son of the late Kenneth and Florence Hudson-Stallard. He was raised and educated in Wilmington where he graduated with the class of 1963. Ted attended Barber's school in Decatur, Illinois and went on to honorably serve in the United States Navy. On September 21, 1968, Ted married Sharon Gartke at Grace Lutheran Church and together they raised their family in Wilmington. Ted cut hair for many years and worked at the Joliet Arsenal prior to gaining employment with Stepan Company. It was from Stepan that Ted retired as a Chemical Operator after 40 years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Wilmington VFW Post #5422. Ted enjoyed hunting, bowling and gardening, but will be remembered most for his love of playing cards and boating.
Survivors include his wife Sharon; two children: Jolynn (Roy) Sammons of Coal City and Tim (Sandi) Stallard of Wilmington; one grandchild Rylan Stallard; one sister Connie (Jim) Juliano of Clifton Park, New York; one sister-in-law Barbara Gartke of Moline, and two nephews: Justin (Erin) Juliano and Kyle (Melissa) Juliano; as well as three great nieces: Marietta, Marilyn, and Adelaide.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Florence Stallard and one sister Marilyn Sak.
The family will receive friends on Monday July 15, 2013 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Graveside services with full military honors will follow on Tuesday July 16th at 11:30AM in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Pastor Chris Beamsley from Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Those wishing to attend the cemetery services may assemble at the funeral home at 10:30AM for a procession departing at 11:00AM.
Preferred Memorials may be made as gifts in Ted's name to a charity of the donor's choosing.
