Thelma A. Barbour
(nee Hill)
Age 94 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday August 15, 2007.
Born May 15, 1913 in Monticello, Kentucky, Thelma was a daughter of the late Vota and Ada (Mullens) Hill. Thelma married Crum Wesley Barbour in 1939 and moved to Wilmington in 1942. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington, former member of the Brookside Mother's Club and in her free time Thelma enjoyed bowling, playing Canasta, following the Chicago White Sox and caring for her family.
Survivors include her four loving children: Kay Bradley-Richards of Custer Park, Judy (Joe) Midlock of Joliet and Linda (Bob) Strong and Michael (Nancy) Barbour, both of Wilmington. (11) Grandchildren: Roy (Cindy) Bradley, Doug (Jami) Bradley, Sheila (Eric) Debelak, Teresa (Detlef) Hultink, Michele (David) Mason, Michael (Julia) Midlock, Alesha (Brian) Boyer, Maj. Christopher (Elizabeth) Strong, Jason (Bridget) Strong, Thomas (Sylvia) Barbour and Scott (Sara) Barbour. (15) Great Grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers: Ray (Betty) Hill of Kentucky and Jack (Linda) Hill of Michigan and two sisters: Irene Bell of California and Phyllis (Fred) Zidell of Florida. Her very dear friend Frieda Geiss and Sandy Wood of the Comfort Keepers of Joliet and Tina, Wanda and Phyllis of the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Crum (1980)and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Saturday August 18, 2007 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes from the First United Methodist Church in Wilmington will officiate and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Thelma's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington, 401 East Kahler Road, Wilmington, Illinois 60481 or Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
