Age 74 of Gonzales Louisiana, and formerly The Woodlands, Texas, peacefully passed away on September 20, 2024 at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born on October 2, 1949, in Morris, Illinois, Teresa was the beloved daughter of Melvin Robert and Eileen Marie (Born) Mill. She spent her early years in Coal City, where she was baptized and received her first Communion at Assumption Parish. The family later moved to Marion, Indiana, for three years, and ultimately settled in Springfield, Illinois, where Teresa graduated with the Class of 1967 from Springfield High School. Her dedication to service led her to pursue a nursing degree at St. Francis College of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois, culminating in her graduation in 1970.
Teresa dedicated her career to nursing, beginning at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. After moving to Texas, she continued her profession at The Methodist Hospital in Houston for 20 years, followed by a role at Texas Children’s Hospital, where she served for 15 years. Eventually, Teresa transitioned into a caregiver role, lovingly tending to her parents in their later years.
On January 12, 1980, Teresa married Ken Meaux at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. Together, they built a loving home and shared a fulfilling life. Teresa was an active member of St. Theresa of Avila in Gonzales, where she contributed to her community. She had a passion for traveling, genealogy, and reading, enjoying each moment to the fullest.
Teresa leaves behind a legacy of compassion and dedication, cherished by all who knew her. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who carry her memory forward.
Survivors include her husband, Ken; one sister, Susan (Mark) Cooper of Loxahatchee, Florida; one brother, Robert (Debbie) Mill of Maryville, Illinois; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Darlene (Kirk) Greene of Hixson, Tennessee and Richard Abshire of Lafayette, Louisiana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
