T. Deane Hynd

Age 84 of Wilmington, passed away Friday March 13, 2009 at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee.

Born June 10, 1924, Deane was a son of the late James Truby and Bernice Underwood-Hynd. He was a veteran of the US Army and Bronze Star recipient, having served during World War II in the 134th Infantry with the 34th Red Bull Division throughout Africa and Italy. On October 14, 1961 Deane married Rita Cooper, and together they were married 41 years. Rita preceded Deane in death in 2003. Deane worked as a distributor for Drewrys Beer Company, which was a family business and his memberships included: St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks Club. Deane was also a life member of the Wilmington Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his sister Diane (George) Briddick; four nieces: Heide (Sam) Murrell, Jody (Leonard) Love, Trudy (Greg) Lawrence and Corrin (Mark) Bratschi; one nephew Mitch (Kelly) Rohlfs and one godson Dylan Bratschi, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deane was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rita and brother-in-law August Rohlfs.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 16th, 2009 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington.

Funeral services will follow on Tuesday March 17th at 10:00AM in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington and pallbearers will be: Kyle Rohlfs, Sam Murrell, Leonard Love, Mark Bratschi, Russ Toler and Eric Toler. Mitch Rohlfs will be an honorary pallbearer.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Deane's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage or St. Rose School.
