Age 91 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday May 29, 2007 at her home.

Born May 30, 1915 in Streator, Sylvia was a daughter of the late John Edward and Bessie (Lauer) Robinson. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated with the Joliet Township High School Class of 1933. Sylvia graduated from Silver Cross College of Nursing in 1936 and was a veteran of the US Army, having served as a Nurse during World War II in the European Theater of Operation. Sylvia married Burton Walsh and together they lived in Elwood and Wilmington until moving to Florida in 1980, after Sylvia retired from the Joliet Arsenal (APSA). Burton preceded Sylvia in death in January of 1986 and she later returned to live with her son Thomas in Coal City in 1997. She was a member of the Coal City American Legion and in her free time enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Survivors include her son Thomas Walsh of Coal City; one granddaughter Nicole (Jake) Bennett of Wilmington and one nephew Jim (Donna) Harder of Joliet.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Burton and one sister Mardell (Bernie) Harder.

The family will receive friends on Sunday June 10, 2007 between the hours of 1:00PM and 4:00PM at the home of Sylvia's son Tom in Coal City.
