Sylvia Corsiatti
Age 96 of Coal City, passed away Friday January 26, 2007 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Januay 12, 1911 in Lum, Bohemia / Czechoslovakia, Sylvia was a daughter of the late Frank and Antonia (Jelinek) Pisha. She arrived in the United States in 1921 after World War I and worked as a seamstress for Granerts, Hyman and Toni Garment Factories. On June 16, 1928 Sylvia married Barney Corsiatti in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City and together they lived their entire married life in Coal City. Barney preceded Sylvia in death in 1955. Sylvia enjoyed bingo, crocheting, jig saw puzzles and bowling.
Survivors include her niece Sylvia (Robert) Newberry of Coal City; great nephews: Gary Newberry of Washington, DC and Gregg Newberry of Oak Park, Illinois and her sister-in-law Ann Corsiatti of Coal City, as well as several other nieces, nephews and her special friend Benjamin "Scotty" Dalziel of Wilmington.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barney and one sister Erma (James) Cerny.
Visitation will be held on Monday January 29, 2007 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Dr. Thomas Logsdon from the Coal City United Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
