"Susie"

Age 46 of Crown Point, Indiana and formerly Gardner, Illinois, passed away Sunday August 1, 2010 at her home.

Born August 14, 1963 in Morris, Illinois, Susie is a daughter of Charles and Marjorie (Olson) Byers. She was raised and educated in Gardner and previously worked for McDonald's in Dwight. Susie was a hard worker, and was employed in various positions, most recently with Respite Care Services in Hammond, Indiana, where she assisted in light housekeeping. Susie was a Friendship Club Member, as well as a member of Suburban Bible Church in Griffith, Indiana. She can be remembered for her enjoyment of music, dancing, going out to dinner, traveling, doing word search puzzles, spending time with her family and attending family functions.

Survivors include her parents; two sisters: Cheryl (Robert) Crosby of Naperville, Illinois and Kathy Byers of Griffith, Indiana; sister-in law: Candy Byers of Braceville, Illinois; two aunts: Evelyn Bozue of Gardner and Edith Sellers of Crystal Lake, Illinois; two uncles: Fred Byers of Taylorville, Illinois and Don (Gloria) Olson of Smithton, Illinois and Florida; nieces and nephews: Ronni Che, Jason (Betty) Byers, Christian (Katie) Byers, Ellen, Jane, Sara and Laura Hurdish and Morgan and Jenna Crosby and great nephews: Jacob and Luka Byers, as well as numerous cousins and friends.

Susie was preceded in death by her brother Ronald Byers in March 2008 and aunt Margaret Lewis in June 2010.

Visitation will be held on Friday August 6, 2010 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in downtown Gardner. Pastor Jan Chandler and Pastor Dan Kuiper will officiate.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and pallbearers will be: Ronni Byers, Jason Byers, Christian Byers, Ken Bozue, Jim Bozue and Bob Crosby.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Susie's memory to the Church of Hope, 202 North Monroe Street, Gardner, IL 60424, Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Street, Munster, Indiana 46321 (www.HospiceCalumet.org) or Respite Care Services, 2646 Highway Avenue, Highland, Indiana 46322-1661.
