Stephen Leonard Terry
Age 70 of Gardner, passed away Thursday evening April 24, 2014 at his home.
Born December 27, 1943 in Morris, Stephen was a son of the late Leonard Monroe and Lucille Josephine (nee Schaack) Terry. He was raised in Seneca and graduated from Seneca High School with the Class of 1963. On February 1, 1964, Stephen married Lynne Christensen in Morris and she survives. He was employed as a carpenter with Local #916, as well as was a union butcher. Steve also built homes alongside his brothers for both D&S and Terry Construction Companies. He was a member of United Luther Church in Gardner and the South Wilmington Fireman’s Beach and Park Club. Steve enjoyed golfing and camping, as well as traveling with his RV. He took great pleasure in fishing, and truly cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Lynne (nee Christensen); three children: Patti (Frank) Sistek of South Wilmington, Matt (Lori) Terry of Braidwood and Leslie Fatlan (Tim Tresch) of Morgan Hill, California; (14) grandchildren: Emily Smith of South Wilmington, Mandi (Aaron) Smith of Cornell, Zach Sistek and Mitch (Mallory) Sistek, both of South Wilmington, Jade Urban of Braidwood, Kristin Terry (fiancé – Jason Durkin) of Shorewood, Teagan Urban, Matthew Terry and Kiley Terry, all of Braidwood, Brian (Jill) Fatlan of Mazon, Bruce (Beth) Fatlan of Braceville, Michelle (Kris) Foster of Brevard, NC, and Kayla Tresch and Tyler Tresch, both of Morgan Hill, CA; (14) great grandchildren: Ryan Smith, Natalie Smith, Christopher Smith, Leah Smith, Dylan Fatlan, Devon Fatlan, Ben Fatlan, Baily Fatlan, Brody Fatlan, Britney Fatlan, Bryce Foster, Makayla Foster, Madelyn Foster and Meleah Foster, with three additional great grandchildren expected this year; brothers and sisters: Sharon (Joe) Sanders of Morris, Dennis (Sandy) Terry of Seneca, Al (Kate) Terry of LaGrange, Ronald (Mary Ann) Terry of Seneca, Lenny (Diane) Terry of Morris, Kris (Jerry) Sheedy of Gardner, Laurie (Tom) Hudson of California and Kim LoBianco, Jennifer Legner (Jack Cox) and Amy (Craig) Cassem, all of Morris; brother and sisters-in-law: Harry Kling of North Carolina, Sandra (the late Arden) Humbert of Joliet and Bobbe (the late Ian) Sealley of Iowa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law Arline and Robert Christensen; brother Randy in childhood, sister Marcia Kling and brother-in-law Ronald “Sam” Legner.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Monday April 28, 2014 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 203 Liberty Street in Gardner. Stephen will then lie in state Tuesday April 29 th at United Lutheran Church, 309 E. Jefferson Street in Gardner from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM. Pastor Jana Howson will officiate. Green Cremation services will be accorded following the service, and inurnment will be in Gardner Prairie Cemetery at a later date.
Pallbearers will be: Zach Sistek, Mitch Sistek, Aaron Smith, Brian Fatlan, Ryan Terry and Jeff Terry.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Stephen’s memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice or United Lutheran Church in Gardner.
