Stephen J. Rzepczynski
Age 80 of Goose Lake and formerly Oak Lawn and Darien, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Morris Hospital.
Born February 9, 1933 in Chicago, Stephen was a son of Stephen and Mary Kalafut-Rzepczynski. He was raised and educated in Chicago, and graduated from Saint Rita High School. Stephen was a self employed contractor and salesman, and was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. In his free time, Stephen enjoyed fishing and loved watching sports. He played the piano and accordion, as well as a passion for building airplanes out of wood and other materials.
Survivors include: four children: Gaye Wagner of Downers Grove, Christopher (Shazana) Ripp of Crest Hill, Karyn (Michael) Milly of Marian, New York and Steven (Sherrie) Ripp of Goose Lake; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister: Sylvia Gaidar of Beecher; brother-in-law: Raymond Greune of Orland Park; sister-in law: Delores Chamberlain of North Carolina as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and wife Charlene in 2005.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Road in Wilmington.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 1:00 pm in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorial may be made as gifts in Stephen's memory to the family's for charities of their choosing.
