Stephen Crenshaw
Age 71 of Channahon, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016 at Morris Hospital.
Born February 15, 1945 in Mount Vernon, Stephen Todd was a son of Eva A. Hoge-Cole (nee Hobbs) and Kenneth Ellis Crenshaw. He was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Vernon Township High School, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Air Force. On March 28, 1964, Stephen married Kyra Connelly in Mount Vernon. A retired electrician, Steve was formerly employed by the Joliet Steel Mills and most recently, United Airlines at O’Hare International Airport. Stephen was past Master of the Minooka A.F. & A.M. Lodge; past Commander of the Joliet Commandery, and was a member of the Shriner's, belonging to the Joliet Motor Corp. He was also a lifetime member of the Grundy County Rod and Gun Club, where he and Kyra enjoyed spending 6 months out of the year. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, fishing, camping, and sitting out by a bonfire. Steve was a helpful man that would always be willing to spend his time fixing anything for anyone that needed his assistance.
Survivors include his wife: Kyra Crenshaw and one son Robert Crenshaw, both of Channahon; four grandchildren: Kelly R. Crenshaw, Julia N. Crenshaw, Patrick W. Crenshaw and Stephen C. Crenshaw; brothers and sisters: Ronald (Norma) Crenshaw of Channahon, Janet Ridenour of Braidwood, Rosemary (the late Fred) Ehrman of Coal City and Marilyn (Dave) Stinson of Janesville, Wisconsin; brother-in-law: Ralph Connelly of LaVista, Nebraska, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Michael, and one daughter: Stephanie.
Green flameless cremation rites have been accorded.
Vistitation and video tribute will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until time of services 7:00 p.m., at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of IL Route 47), in Morris. A private family inurnment with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Stephen’s memory to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
