Age 82 of Wilmington, passed away Monday September 22, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born April 29, 1926 in Champaign, Illinois, Stan was a son of the late Frank and Delia Russell - Hawkey. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in both World War II, and the Korean Conflict as a Medic. Stan was employed for many years by I.N.R. Beatty Lumbar Company and later was a member of the Carpenters Union, from where he retired. His other memberships included The 1st United Methodist Church of Wilmington and the Malcomb J. Mayo VFW Post in Wilmington. In his free time Stan enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his sister Helen (Edward) Matia of New Lenox; one brother Russell (Linda) Hawkey of Rest Haven; one sister-in-law Marion (Tex) Gray of Arkansas; one brother-in-law Joe (Ruby) Greenlee of Lawrenceville, IL and numerous nieces and nephews including: Doris (Jim) Mikel of Braidwood, Sharon (William) Langnes of Lockport, Linda (Robert) Hornbuckle of St. Joseph, MI, Judy Brunson of Georgia, Sandra (Anton) Cerny of Florida, James (Wilma) Vandermark of Beecher, Anita Huston of Coal City, Marjorie (Butch) Dorton of Jonesboro, IL, Nina (Robert) Pinnick and Roy (Jody) Greenlee, both of Lawrenceville, IL, Kirk (Trudy) Greenlee of Michigan, Tom (Randy) Street of North Carolina, Gary (Jimmy Lou) Street of South Carolina, Robert Temple of Florida, Connie Street of Georgia, Dee (Cid) Brooks of Texas and Jane (Terry) Keeley of Wilmington.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; two sons: Wayne and Glenn and one sister Irene (Leonard) Waldron.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 24, 2008 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53/Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow on Thursday September 25th at 2:00PM in the funeral home with Rev. Jay Lee from the 1st United Methodist Church in Wilmington officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Stan's memory to the 1st United Methodist Church in Wilmington.
