Age 76 of Coal City and formerly of Mazon and Marshall, Illinois, passed away Saturday May 24, 2014 at her home.

Born May 12, 1938 in Edgar County, Shirley was a daughter of the late Ross and Ruth Bennett-Richey. She was raised and educated in rural Edgar County and worked as a beautician. Shirley owned two different beauty shops, one in Mazon for several years and another in Gardner for two years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coal City and will be remembered for her love of planting flowers. Shirley took pleasure in traveling with her husband Don and cherished spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Don, who she married October 30, 1993; children: Patty (Rick) Colclasure of Coal City, Jeff Wilson of Marshall, Jed (Cindy) Wilson of Seneca and Jill (Russell) Cooke of Dwight, as well as Donald Wayne (Ellyn) McCollough, Jr., Mary Scott, Billy (Mary) McCollough, Roger (Mary) McCollough and David (Andrea) McCollough; two daughters-in-law Caroline McCollough and Loretta Wilson; grandchildren: Elizabeth Beetz, Steven Wilson, Quinn Ferrara, Kira (Matt) Sheedy, Paul, Jimmy and Mathew Wilson, Jessica Seliga, Joey and Jack Norman, Heather (Daniel) Solis, Jessica Jackson, Tonya Barra, and Justin, Nicole, Jackie, Maddie, Taylor, Maggie and Christopher McCollough; (21) great grandchildren; brothers Huber Richey of Marshall and Vernon (Dorothy) Richey of West Terre Haute, Indiana, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; son James Wilson, Jr. (1987); three brothers: Max Richey, Harold Richey and Howard Richey and her sister Mildred Haga.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will receive friends on Saturday May 31, 2014 from 1:00PM until time of memorial service 3:00PM at First Baptist Church of Coal City, which is located on Illinois Route 113, one mile west of Coal City High School in Coal City.

Inurnment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Shirley's memory to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
