Age 80 of Morris, passed away Wednesday July 7, 2010 at Morris Hospital.

Born August 21, 1929 in Morris, Sherwood was a son of the late Sidney and Arlotte Brewe-Nelson. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and farmed his entire life until retiring in 1999. Sherwood was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and the Grundy County Farm Bureau. He was known for always keeping busy, was a fan of U of I Basketball and enjoyed the outdoors. Sherwood also can be remembered for his love of traveling with his wife and daughters showing their Arabian Horses.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years: Faye (nee Busaytis), whom he married August 2, 1952 in Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Seneca; four children: Sherry (John) Lundgren of Channahon, Michael Nelson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pam (Roger) Goodman of Morris and Lisa (Brian) Jones of Channahon; six grandchildren: Madison and Jarod Nelson, Kelcie and Andrew Goodman, Tasha Nelson and Taylor Jones; two great grandchildren: McKenzie and Trey; two brothers and one sister: Nolan (Louise) Nelson of Huntley, Georgene Anderson of Aurora and Dale (Alberta) Nelson of Champaign; one sister-in-law Nancy (Bob) Craig of Morris and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his favorite dog Bailey.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday July 11, 2010 between the hours of 2:00PM and 5:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Monday July 12th at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 514 East Jackson Street in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Richard L. Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Sherwood's memory to the Morris Hospital Foundation.
