Sherry McIntosh

Age 76 of Ohio, formerly of Diamond, Illinois and Verona, Illinois, died Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Akron, Ohio.

Born September 14, 1947 in McLeansboro, Illinois, Sherry was a daughter of Herschel Campbell and Nadine (Mitchell) Duay. She was raised and educated in McLeansboro and graduated from McLeansboro Township High School with the Class of 1965. Sherry began her career as a design draftsman with McDonnell Douglas in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1965, and on March 15, 1969, she married Paul Eugene McIntosh. Together, they would relocate to Verona, Illinois and she would gain employment with Hornsby Stores as an illustrator. Sherry worked for many other companies over the years, including Northern Petro Chemicals, Chamlin and Associates, and for Dr. Cesario Cumba’s office, before retiring from Mazon State Bank in 2011.

She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake in Morris, Illinois, and was also very involved in the community. Sherry served as a board member of Grundy County Crimestoppers and secretary for the Community Nutrition Network, as well as treasurer of the MVK Ambulance Board and past member of the Verona Zoning Board. She was always a willing volunteer for any and all organizations that needed a helping hand. Sherry took great pleasure in travelling later in life, especially with local travel groups. She was a talented baker and candy maker, and enjoyed spending her time reading and researching her ancestry. Sherry was blessed with a devoted family, and in turn shared all the love and support she could with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Kendall (Lori) McIntosh of Raymore, Missouri, Tymara (David) Ehrler of Norton, Ohio, and Alana Doss of New Lenox, Illinois; ten grandchildren: Victoria (Richard) Pintar, Audrey (Hunter) Krajci, Olivia (Caleb) Hertzog, Abigail McIntosh, Matthew Ehrler, Ryan Ehrler, Jacob Ehrler, Tyler Ehrler, Colten Ehrler, and Aidan Doss; one great granddaughter, Jemma Krajci; one sister, Donita (the late Dan) Marciniec of Elgin, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
