Sherman S. Cheek, Sr.
Age 78 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday December 4, 2010 at his home with family at his side. Born October 15, 1932 in Coalfield, TN to the late John & Lorraine (Self) Cheek also preceded in death by his wife Becky L. (Coote) Cheek, a sister June and infant twins at birth. Survived by his son Sherman Cheek, Jr. of Arizona, Step-daughter Linda (Robert) Carpenter of Indiana and Special niece Paula (Phillip) Bellinghiere of Wilmington and other nieces and nephews. Two grandchildren Robbie Carpenter and Toniqua Cheek; four great grandchildren and a brother Bill Cheek of South Carolina. Retired from Union Local # 150 of Joliet as a heavy equipment operator. Sherman was an avid biker and fisherman. A veteran of the Korean war serving with the U.S. Army. Cremation rites will be accorded. Interment on Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Elwood with military honors by the US Army at 10:00AM family & friends will meet at the information center at 9:45AM Tuesday morning.
