Age 82 of Coal City, passed away Friday night, March 29, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.

Born September 19, 1930 in Rockford, Sheridan was the son of the late Virgil and Hazel Rolfe-Bailey. He moved to Coal City in the third grade and graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1948. Sheridan served in the Marines Corp during the Korean Conflict where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star with combat "V" along with other commendations. On October 9, 1955, he married Marilyn Gianu at Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City and together they made their home in Coal City. After serving his country, Sheridan went to work for his father at Bailey Printing where he continued to work until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of The American Legion, the VFW, Coal City United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Coal City Emergency Squad. In Sheridan's free time he enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his dog Lilly.

Survivors include his wife of over 57 years: Marilyn; one son: Mitch (Patti) Bailey and one daughter: Sherry (John) Trammel both of Coal City; six grandchildren: Ryan Bailey, Todd Bailey, Tricia (Matt) Hall, Mallory (FiancAC., Matt Cryder) Trammel, Ian Trammel and Corey Trammel; one great grandchild: Caleb Hall; numerous cousins and good friend and neighbor Lynne and the late Jimmy Nick Nicoletti

Sheridan was preceded in death by his parents; several great friends: Joe and Janice Bertoglio whom they shared many many good times and millions of laughs as well as Melvin and Faye Dearth and their weekly shopping trips.

Visitation and video will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 between the hours of 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Thomas Logsdon officiating.

Burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery with Sheridan's grandchildren acting as pallbearers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Sheridan's memory to Unit One Educational Foundation in Coal City or Grundy County Volunteer Community Hospice.
