Sheldon A. Davis, 78, of Morris, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Park Pointe Healthcare & Rehab Center in Morris with his family by his side.
Born February 4, 1944 in Aurora, he was the son of Arthur and Mercedes (Hafenrichter) Davis. He grew up in Oswego, Il and graduated from Oswego High School in 1962. He served 6 years in the U S Army Reserves.
After high school he worked with his uncle in farm related jobs then became a grain truck driver for Oswego Grain Co. Later he took over the family farm in Oswego as a third generation farmer. He retired from farming in 2006. Sheldon enjoyed spending time with family, especially his four grandsons. He also liked meeting with his farmer friends for coffee several times a week. He liked traveling, especially going on cruises with his family. Sheldon was an avid Chicago Cubs and NASCAR fan.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Retired Methodist Men’s Group.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; two daughters, Rebecca (Jerry) White and Beth (Joe) Horvat; four grandsons, Tyler and Jason White, and Jacob and Bryan Horvat; one sister, Barbara Davis; one nephew, Mark (Cathy) Davis; several cousins, along with his much loved dog, Lucy.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law, Cleo Davis.
Memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice or the First United Methodist Church Radio Ministry.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert N. Sathuri officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery in Danvers, Il.
