Shawn Kelly Mikel

Age 47 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday February 20, 2011.

Born August 28, 1963 in Joliet, Shawn is a daughter of Alyce Sue (nee Kahler) and the late Jack L. Mikel. She was raised and educated in Wilmington and was baptized and attended Island City Baptist Church. Shawn had a love for horses and enjoyed four wheeling and watching dirt bike races.

Survivors include her four children: Bobby of Wilmington, Brett of Joliet, Brandon of New Lenox and Blake of Wilmington; one grandson Ryder; her mother Alyce Sue Mikel and maternal grandmother Dorothy Kahler, both of Wilmington, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shawn was preceded in death by her father Jack L. Mikel, maternal grandfather Hervey Kahler and paternal grandparents: Delbert and Myrtle Mikel.

The family will receive friends on Friday February 25, 2011 from 10:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Pastor Ron Taylor from Island City Baptist Church will officiate and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Shawn's memory to Island City Baptist Church, 120 Vine Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481 or Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
