Age 71 of Wilmington formerly of the New Lenox area, passed away Sunday August 16, 2009 at home with family by her side. Born October 2, 1937 in Ferris, IL to the late Dale E. & Virginia V. (Peck) Christy also preceded in death by her son Mike Garrelts. Survived by her loving daughter Chris (Phil) Goodwin of Wesley Twp Wilmington, three grandsons Scott, Matt & Jeff and one granddaughter Jaime Goodwin, sister Nancy Jenkins of Carthage, IL and two nieces Jenny Giltmier of Ohio and Jackie (Mike) Stachewicz of Naperville. A substitute teacher for Wilmington Schools and other local villages from 1992 to 2004. Retired from the University of Illinois as a youth advisor in 1992. A teacher in her early career for Lincoln-Way High School and other New Lenox schools. Member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington and Will County Homemakers Assoc. and former Election judge for Wesley Twp. Graduate of Carthage High School, BS from Western IL University and a Masters of Education from the University of Illinois. Visitation Sunday August 23, 2009 from 12:00 until time of services at 2:00PM at the Freitag Funeral Home Wilmington with Rev. Mi-Soo Yoo officiating, Interment Wesley Cemetery.
