Sandra (Sandy) Lee Warpinski passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Newark, Illinois on May 12, 2021 after battling ALS.
Sandy leaves her loving husband (who is still the one!) of 36 years Charles (Chuck) Warpinski, her four children Stephanie Warpinski, Stuart Warpinski and spouse Brooke Warpinski, Walter Warpinski and spouse Tara Bernard, and Harrison Warpinski, and granddaughter Charlotte Warpinski, and favorite sister Tracy Giffen and partner Derek Christian. She is preceded in her death by her parents, Millicent (Mitzie) Gertrude Reichardt Giffen and Henry (Hank) Willis Giffen.
Born on September 27,1958 in Houston, Texas. Sandy graduated from Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, Texas. Chuck and Sandy were married November 8, 1985 in Naperville, Illinois and had a marriage that all of us aspire to. Sandy was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Morris, Illinois for 25 years.
Sandy was the matriarch of the Warpinski household. She was our mother and our wife. She was the first one we’d call with good and bad news because she had the answers, the ear to listen, and the quick wit that we all inherited. Anyone who knew her, knew that her heart was consumed with love for her family. Sandy loved her kids so much and was actively involved in our lives, including regular trips to see Stephanie in Alaska in the last decade. When Charlotte was born, Sandy lived for the visits from this joyous addition. Sandy enjoyed yearly family vacations to Cancun with her family as well.
Sandy and Tracy were especially close their whole lives, did numerous girls’ trips together, and were known for showing up together accidentally matching outfits. They helped to organize their annual family reunions with their cousins, which were always a highlight of Sandy’s summers. Sandy loved spending time with her extended family up in the upper Midwest, especially in Crivitz, Wisconsin in the cabin her and Chuck built.
Sandy was known for her warmth and kindness in the community and extended her radiance to everyone she met. No matter where she was, she made everyone’s day better and brighter. Her positive nature combined with an outgoing personality was infectious and developed a large circle of friends. Sandy enjoyed the community of women with whom she worked at Weight Watchers and Mary Kay. She created lasting bonds in her everyday life with hair stylists, grocery store employees, her kids’ classmates’ parents, neighbors and the list goes on and on.
