Ruth Ella Morton
Age 96 of Wilmington and formerly of Plainfield, passed away Tuesday morning, February 23, 2016 at Regency Care of Morris.
Born May 27, 1919, Ruth Ella was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Cora (Sampson) Morton. She was raised and educated in Plainfield and worked for both the Soldier Widows Home and later the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and will be remembered as an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Survived by numerous cousins including: Bonnie and Nick Negulis and James and Nelma Morton, both of Canton, Ohio, Mary and Tom Moffit of Grant Park, Illinois, Donna and Jim Mark of Braidwood, Andrea and Dominic Pantaleone of Sarasota, Florida, and many others in the area, as well as her dear friend Anita Pippin of Florida.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral service 3:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Reverend Herb Essig will officiate.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
Pallbearers will be: Craig Mark, Jim Mark, Jackie Mark, Tim Pantaleone, Al Czapski and Frank Waterstraat. Honorary pallbearers will be: Braydon Mark and Landon Mark.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ruth’s memory to St. Rose School, 626 South Kankakee Street, Wilmington, IL 60481.
