Ruth Joan Bright

Ruth J. Bright, 94, of Morris, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Serenity Estates of Morris with her family by her side.
Born August 20, 1930 in Morris, she was the daughter of Melvin and Lila (Vidal) Osmundson. She graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1948. Ruth married Donald Bright on February 12th, 1955 in Morris. For all of their married life, they lived in Morris. She was employed for several years at the Grundy County Bank.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald, of 69 years; her two daughters, Donna Jo (James) Noethe of Morris, Dee Ann (Robert) Unzicker of Washington, IL; her five grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Gould, Casey (Jenna) Kerr, Colby (Ashley) Noethe, Stefani (Noe) Lara and Robin (Garrett) Tabbert; her great grandchildren Zayn Lara, Amanda Gould, Michael John (Corinne Herzog) Gould, Kaitlyn and Mason Tabbert; and her great great grandchildren Bradley Gould-Michelkamp and Odin Galloway. She is also survived by her sister Lois Sampson of Morris and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Merrill Osmundson and LaVerne Osmundson; and her two sisters Beth (Blanchard) Larson and Phyllis (Leo) Tjelle.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
She was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, enjoyed playing Bridge, bowling, singing, and was involved in the Sweet Adelines. She followed Morris High School boys basketball and girls softball. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially with their sporting events.
Memorials may be directed to donor’s choice.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 11th, 2024 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Morris at 11 am with Pastor Craig Benson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sample Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday at 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
