Russel Milford Ness

Russel Milford Ness, formerly of Lisbon, IL, passed from this life June 27, 2022.
Russ was born at home on the farm in Kendall County, Illinois, on February 7, 1927, to Lars and Ella (Hoge) Ness. He attended Porter School and Morris High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 1, 1956, he married Trula Ann Welker, and they made their home in Lisbon.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ken and Lloyd, sisters Bernice, Eleanor, Ruth and Dorothy, and son James Russel Ness.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Trula, daughter Susan (Dennis) Johnson and grandsons Eric and Luke Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
Russ spent most of his working life at Anderson Farm Services of rural Newark, Illinois. His cherished church families included West Lisbon Lutheran Church, rural Lisbon, Illinois; Peace Lutheran Church, Morris, Illinois; and Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion, Iowa. Russ was a lifelong bird watcher, was “a natural” at bowling and golf, and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. From a young age he and his siblings loved to sing, and there was much singing and laughing at Ness family reunions.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday July 6, 2022 at 11 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Morris with Pastor Dennis Johnson officiating. Private inurnment will take place in Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church
