Rose J. Matuszewski (Mateski)

Age 94 of Joliet and formerly Lockport, passed away peacefully Thursday July 17, 2008 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born August 25, 1913 in Lockport, Rose was a daughter of the Samuel and Helen Bobak-Kijowski. She was a former member of St. John Vianny Church in Lockport and currently belonged to St. Ambrose Church in Crest Hill. She was very active in church organizations, as well as served as an election judge and was a member of the St. Thaddeus Church Mothers Club. In her free time Rose enjoyed baking, crochetting, knitting and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include two sons: Joseph "Jack" (Kathy) Mateski of Joliet and Robert (Sandy) Mateski of Oswego. One sister Josephine (the late Edward) Legerski; two sisters-in-law: Gloria (the late John) Matusefski and Rose (the late Patrick) Gaida; seven grandchildren: Christopher (fiance' - Kristin), Brad and Craig (Kristen) Mateski, Jill (Joe) Brick, Rebecca (Ron) Caves, Peggy (Mike) Price and Michael Mateski and (11) Great Grandchildren: Alex, Evie, Sam, Lily, Jack, Jenna, Zoey, Maizy, Zane, Alyse and Kinzie.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Joseph (1999), brother George "Dudsie", two sisters: Mary and Helen and twin great granddaughters: Kathryn Rose and Sophia Lynn.

The family will receive friends on Saturday July 19, 2008 from 9AM until time of Funeral Mass 10AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1702 Dearborn St. in Crest Hill. Rev. Doyle will officiate and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.

Preferred memorials as gifts in Rose's memory may be extended to: St. Ambrose Church Building Fund or for Masses in Roses name.
