Rose J. Maland
(nee Spiezio)
Age 86 of Coal City , passed away Monday morning, December 15th, 2008 at Walnut Grove Rehabilitation Center in Morris.
Born September 12, 1922 in Joliet , Rose was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Cinotto) Spiezio. She was raised and educated in Odell and Braidwood, and in January of 1942 Rose married Peter Earl Maland in Morris. She was most recently employed at Sparkle Laundromat in Coal City until her retirement in 2005. Rose was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and Coal City Senior Citizens. In her free time Rose enjoyed gardening, yard-work and spending time with her neighbors, as well as watching and caring for birds and squirrels.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Peter Maland and Ronald (Mary Jo) Maland both of Coal City, Rick Maland of Moline, Michael Maland of Morris, Linda Maland of Coal City and Mary Ann Maland of Moline; thirteen grandchildren: Peter (Tami) Maland and Tony Maland of Coal City, Laura (Derek) Wilson of Gardner, Lisa (Steve) Holt of Braidwood, Lynn Maland and Christopher Maland, both of Coal City, Jennifer Maland of Moline, Julie (Manuel) Santana of Suwanee, Georgia, David Maland of Morris and Stacy (Jerad) Petracek of Coal City, Stephanie (Eric) Snyder, Anthony (Cat) Georgacopoulos and Jessica Georgacopoulos all of Morris; twelve great grandchildren, with another on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband Peter in 1962; son Richard in 1964; one brother Joseph (Dorothy) Spiezio; three sisters: Marie (John) Crichton, Lucille (Paul) Favero and Nancy (Mack) McClellan, one daughter-in-law Michele Maland and one son-in-law Rick Caldwell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 between the hours of 3 and 7PM at Reeves Funeral Homes, Ltd., 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.
Funeral services will follow on Friday, December 19th, 2008 at 10AM in the funeral home and burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery with pallbearers: Tony Maland, David Maland, Chris Maland, Todd Maland, Scott Favero, Ray Berta, Ed Pachetti and Neal Brooks.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts to the family or in Rose's memory to the Coal City Emergency Squad.
