Rosalie M. Fonck
Age 95 of Wilmington passed away peacefully July 23, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.
Born January 1, 1921 in Joliet, Rosalie was a daughter of the late Adolph and Leona Mulcahy-Ochs. She was raised in Joliet; graduated from St. Francis Academy with the class of 1938, and later earned an Honorary Associates Degree from University of St. Francis. On April 15, 1942, Rosalie married Joseph H. Fonck, Sr. in Fort Lewis, Washington. She was an active member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where she was a Eucharistic Minister, belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, served on the St. Rose School PTO, and participated in the CFM (Christian Family Movement). Rosalie belonged to the Joliet Catholic Mother’s Club and the Joliet Arsenal Officer’s Club. She was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and had a keen political awareness. Rosalie took pleasure in hand stitchery and will be remembered for her “infamous” oatmeal cookies. She was one who always remembered to send cards to family for every milestone and she loved listening to music. Accompanied by an unwavering faith, Rosalie achieved a great many accomplishments along her life’s journey. There was nothing that made her more proud however, than her family tree that blossomed to include numerous branches of loved ones who were her most priceless treasure. She will be deeply missed, yet never forgotten.
