Ronald Joseph Morin
"The Chief"
Age 72 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2011 at his home.
Born October 27, 1938 in Hays, Montana, Ronald was a son of the late Michael M. and Marie V. Doney-Morin. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served on the USS Essex. Ronald was employed by Local #150 Operating Engineers, from where he retired after 42 years of service. Aside from being a lifetime member of Local 150, Ronald also belonged to The Moran Club in Joliet, V.F.W. Post #1336 and the Downers Grove Shooting Club. He would do anything for anybody, and remembered as always social, 'The Chief' will be greatly missed for being very proactive with many elderly friends and neighbors throughout the community.
Survivors include his son Leonard Morin (Marc Ortiz); stepson: Leonard Onsen (Carrie) and stepdaughter Tammy Francisco, all of Coal City; three grandsons: Tony Francisco, Tiger Onsen and Cody Onsen; one granddaughter Dezerri Morin-Ortiz and one brother Douglas Morin (Leah) of Butler, Pennsylvania, as well as his lifelong companion the former Mrs. Ronald J. Morin of Coal City.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Marie Morin and two brothers: Marvin M. Morin and Dwight "Oscar" Morin.
Cremation rites have been accorded per Ronald's wishes and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 13, 2011 beginning at 1:00PM at Diamond Jack's, 2290 East Division Street in Diamond.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ronald's memory to St. Jude Children's Memorial Fund.
