Ronald D. Fister

Age 67 of Morris, passed away Sunday June 21, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born July 01, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana, Ron was a son of the late Charles and Eva Ennis-Fister. He earned his Bachelors Degree at Saint Ambrose College in Iowa and on August 07, 1965, Ron married Nancy Holmes in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris. Currently, Ron was the owner/operator of Service Master of Illinois Valley for more than 35 years. He was a founding and current member of The Joliet Bicycle Club, and Ron belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris. In his free time, Ron was known for his love of biking, cooking, hiking, jogging, reading and going to the library and gardening.

Survivors include his wife Nancy; five children: Lyn (Dale) Larson of Gilbert, Arizona, Carol (Nick) Berggren of Plainfield, Jeff (Annie) Fister of Elmhurst, Beth (Glen) Hill of Healdton, Oklahoma and Craig Fister of Morris; four grandchildren: Brandi Berggren, Erin Berggren, Robert Hill and Samantha Hill and two brothers: Charles (Elaine) Fister of Texas and Frank (Janette) Fister of Maine, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Charlotte in Childhood, and his mother and father-in-law: Lucille (nee Lee) and Donald Holmes.

The family will receive friends on Thursday June 25, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 East Jackson Street in Morris, from 5:30PM until time of Memorial Mass at 7:00PM. Reverend Richard L. Smith will officiate and inurnment will be private at the request of the family.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ron's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund.
