Ronnie Davis

Age 59 of Campus and formerly Wilmington, passed away Friday December 13, 2013 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.

Born April 16, 1954 in Joliet, Ronald Lewis is a son of Ida Fae Davis (nee Higginbotham) of Wilmington and the late Lewis "Kelly" Davis. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1973. Ronnie entered the United States Army following graduation, and was the first company of all volunteers following the draft to graduate from Fort Leonard Wood. Upon his honorable discharge his employment entailed working as an electrician at Murray State University in Kentucky and Johnson & Johnson Personal Products in Wilmington. For the past 16 years, Ronnie has worked at Prairie Materials. He was a member of the Campus Volunteer Fire Department and the Patriot Guard Riders, and was certified with S&N Pyrotechnics. Ronnie had a love for Harley's, enjoyed traveling, fishing and golf, and took pleasure in gardening and building anything with his two hands. Ronnie will always be remembered for his constant willingness to help others.

Survivors include his mother; wife Karen (nee Womack), whom he married August 17, 2013; three children: Heather Davis, Katie Davis and Patrick Davis, all of Coal City; two grandchildren: Lexi Tinsley and Jacob Cerutti; one sister Pamela (James) Kammann of Limestone; two brothers: Steven (Cindy) Davis of Braidwood and John Kevin Davis of Wilmington; two aunts Shirley and Elizabeth Higginbotham, both of Noblesville, Indiana and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including lifelong friends Troy Gowler of Essex and Tracy "Gert" Thompson of Wilmington.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his father Kelly Davis on November 28, 2011 and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation and video tribute was held on Monday December 16, 2013 between the hours of 2:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service was held Wednesday December 18th at 9:00AM in the funeral home. Inurnment with full military honors provided by the Patriot Riders, United States Army and Wilmington Color Guard followed at 10:00AM in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Ronnie's memory to his family for their distribution.
