Robert F. Sewall
Age 85 of Elwood, passed away Sunday May 18, 2008 at his home.
Born August 25, 1922 in Chicago, Bob was a son of the late Frank and Blanche Sawalski-Sewall. He was raised and educated in Chicago and was a graduate of Lane Tech High School. Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Asiatic Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was employed by General Motors at the Electro Motive Plant in McCook, Illinois, where he retired as a Testing Engineer after more than 45 years of service and was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. Bob was known for his woodworking, and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife Georgia Sue (nee Haid); three sons: Steven (Sharon) Sewall of Brookfield, Wisconsin, Mark (Nga) Sewall of Hastlet, Texas and Paul (Laura) Sewall of Tinley Park. Six grandchildren: Nicole Sewall, Jennifer Sewall, Jillian (Bryan) Rohde, Bethany Sewall, Eric Sewall and Megan Sewall; one great granddaughter Violet Sewall and one brother Ralph Sewall of Plainfield, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 21, 2008 from 9:00AM until time of Memorial Mass 10:00AM at Saint Rose Catholic Church, 624 S. Kankakee Street in Wilmington. Rev. Steve Bondi and Deacon Don Dyer will officiate the services and inurnment with full military honors will immediately follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Bob's Memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Illinois 60431.
