Robert Romero

Age 95 of Dwight, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 at Heritage Health in Dwight.

Robert was born in Mexico City, Mexico. His family immigrated to Chicago when he was a young child. Robert attended Bowen High School and then Roosevelt University.
He was a draftsman during World War II and traveled as a company representative to Bloomington. While there Robert met his wife of 72 years, Wanita Moline. They resided in Chicago where he worked for US Steel. After becoming a paralegal he worked with Attorney Nathan Notkin specializing in Immigration Law.

In 1971 the family moved to Gooselake. At 68, when most people welcomed retirement, he enjoyed a new career as a Second Language English teacher at Shabbona Middle School, District 54. He was an avid reader, musician and chess player. He never lost his interest in learning.
For the last year he resided at Heritage Health, Dwight, he was known for his pleasant demeanor, wit and complementing those around him.

Survivors include his wife, Wanita Romero; his children: Rick Romero, Becky Montero, and Ron Romero; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Michael and sister: Bertha; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter: Roberta Romero, in 2016.

Per Robert's wishes, cremation rites were accorded.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until time of memorial service 2:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made in Robert's memory to Heritage Health Nursing Home (300 East Mazon Avenue) in Dwight, for their efforts in fighting Alzheimers.
